Credit Card Casino Guide - Why There Are None in the UK (2026)

Credit Card Casinos Explained

Simply put, UK-licensed casinos do not accept credit cards due to regulations. If you come across casino sites claiming to accept them, they are unlicensed and thus unsafe for UK players. In this guide, our former casino employee explains why you cannot find any legit credit card casinos in the UK.

Credit Card Ban in UK Gambling

As of September 2026, no UK-licensed casino accepts credit cards, as their use has been banned in the UK gambling industry by the Gambling Commission since April 2020. The ban applies to all online and offline gambling businesses except for non-remote lotteries.

This credit card restriction is motivated by responsible gambling and to prevent customers from gambling with money that they do not have, as the Commission learnt that about 20% of gamblers using credit cards were classified as problem gamblers.

It is stipulated in Licence Conditions and Codes of Practice (LCCP) 6.1.2:

Licensees must not accept payment for gambling by credit card. This includes payments to the licensee made by credit card through a money service business.

You can read more details about the ban on the UKGC's compliance page.

Illegal Credit Card Casinos

As all licensed casinos in the UK must not accept credit cards from their customers, it's fair to say that any casinos that accept credit cards do not have a UK licence and are therefore illegal. These casinos are also often identified as non-GamStop casinos or no KYC casinos. They neither provide practical player protection nor are they safe.

If you come across such credit card casinos, avoid them at all costs.

Credit Card Alternatives for UK Online Casinos

There are quite a few credit card alternatives that you can use for gambling in the UK. Here are a few of the most popular payment methods currently available on UK casino sites.

Pay by Mobile Bill

Mobile bill payments are probably the most 'similar' method to credit cards, since you add all the deposits you make via this channel to your mobile phone bill. The only disadvantage of choosing this method is that there are only a limited number of casinos that accept mobile bill payments.

Debit Cards & Mobile Wallets

Whilst credit cards are banned, debit cards are accepted regardless of whether they're from Visa or Mastercard. Withdrawals can be instant on Visa casinos that have Visa Direct enabled, but instant payouts on Mastercard casinos are still growing.

You can also connect your debit card with Apple Pay if you're an iPhone or iPad user and with Google Pay if you're an Android user. To our knowledge, Apple Pay casinos are more common than Google Pay casinos in the current UK market, though G Pay is becoming more common of late.

These mobile wallets are compatible with both deposits and withdrawals.

Revolut Pay

Revolut also vanished from the UK market for a while, though Revolut debit cards were still widely accepted. Now there are a few casinos that accept Revolut Pay, the company's own payment channel. If you're a Revolut user, this is the most convenient payment method since you can pay in 1-tap without entering any details. You can also make instant withdrawals via Revolut Pay.

PayPal

PayPal is one of the most popular payment methods and is available for making transactions with online gambling sites. It is not accepted everywhere, but we have curated a list of PayPal casinos, all licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission.

PaysafeCard

If you prefer prepaid cards, PaysafeCard is your choice. With the rise of onlineficaiton of services, you can now have an online account at Paysafe. Some of the PaysafeCard casinos we have reviewed allow withdrawals to the online accounts, too.
